LockeBox

A GBA and DS emulator purpose-built for Nuzlocke runs. The tracker is not bolted on. It is the product.

LockeBox is designed for challenge runners who need the emulator, save data, encounters, box, graveyard, level caps, and battle planning to understand the same run at the same time.

Overview

The emulator that understands the run.

Every emulator feature exists in service of the Nuzlocke experience: tracking the route, protecting the history of the run, and helping players make better decisions without leaving the game.

Play and track in one place

Load a user-supplied GBA or DS ROM, play normally, and keep the tracker beside the game instead of juggling a spreadsheet and an emulator.

Save-aware data

LockeBox is being built to parse save files for party, box, levels, stats, moves, met locations, IVs, EVs, nature, and more.

Nuzlocke-first tools

Encounter logging, death tracking, badge and level cap tracking, graveyard history, route notes, and run metrics are core surfaces.

Supported Games

Alpha data starts with Hoenn and Kanto.

The first supported game data targets are the Gen III GBA titles most Nuzlocke runners know by heart.

MVP Scope

Built for serious challenge runners.

First playable target

The MVP focuses on GBA emulation across Windows, Android, and iOS, with manual and automatic save workflows, on-screen controls, save states, fast forward, and game data for Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, Fire Red, and Leaf Green.

Tracker surfaces

Team, box, graveyard, routes, badges, level caps, stat viewer, line builder, and run history are planned as first-class parts of the app.

Principles

Local-first, open, and player-owned.

The planned app is free and open source, with no ads, no required account, no telemetry, and no ROM distribution. Players provide their own game files and keep their run data on their own devices.
